Pears Foundation is an independent, British family foundation rooted in Jewish values. Led by the Pears family with the support of a full-time professional team, Pears Foundation’s activities are focused on understanding complex issues, engaging people in achieving social progress and promoting wellbeing. Pears Foundation invests around £15 million each year in a wide range of charitable organisations and causes, remaining closely involved with their partners to support and guide them in the pursuit of their goals.
The Foundation is proud to support the Pears Scholars programme, which enables students from the developing world to develop the skills and experience to combat their own country’s most pressing challenges.
Pears Foundation provides full scholarships to enable students from the developing world to study for their International Masters in Public Health or Animal, Plant, Environment or Nutritional Science at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, a global leader in these fields. The Foundation has also enabled the creation of alumni networks to provide continued support, development and networking opportunities for graduates of the programme. Pears also provides MA scholarships for the Hebrew University's Glocal Community Development Studies programme.
Pears Foundation is committed to supporting Israel’s emerging international development NGO sector and works with a range of institutions to achieve this from international NGOs such as the NALA Foundation, to umbrella organisations such as SID and OLAM and to some of Israel's top universities.
